Campus Parking
For campus parking you must contact Transportation Services to purchase a parking permit. Permits cost $7 a day.

Unloading & Parking Your Car
Witte Hall has a drop-off area just off Dayton Street, in Lot 103. There are a few 25-minute meters there. Parking permits are required to park your car on campus. Permits cost $7/day, or $3.50/half-day, and are available on a first-come, first served basis. We are tentatively scheduled to park in Lot #46, located across the street from Witte Hall. The campus is very busy during our conference, so if you don’t call to reserve a parking permit you may be parking waaaaay far away from the dorm. Call the Transportation Services Special Events Office at (608) 262-8683 any time between NOW and one month before the conference to reserve your permit. You must pay in full at the time of the order. Sooner is better – if Lot 46 fills, you’ll have to park in the next closest lot. They didn’t tell me where that one was!

By Air

Once you arrive, car rentals are available or you may take a cab to the Dorm.

Bus from Chicago
The best bus for folks arriving by airplane to Chicago and needing to get to Madison is Van Galder Bus Line. This bus picks up at O'Hare Airport on the lower level and drops off in front of the Memorial Union on campus which is very centrally located and an easy place to make connections, only two blocks from Witte Hall, (a little farther from the Geology Building).

Greyhound and/or Badger Bus Line is less convenient (unless things have changed recently). The Badger bus Line terminal is downtown and would require a cab ride or pick up to campus.

The ride on Van Galder is about 3 hours ($50 round trip) and the buses run very frequently and are comfortable and easy going, usually full of students. The Chicago train system can make connections from O'Hare to downtown Chicago and back.
