ABSTRACT
The poster shows extensive and complicated work of the painter and lithograph Giuseppe Bertini; he created, about the middle of the 1800's, artwork to accompany the manuscript "Descrizione dei funghi indigeni dell'agro lucchese"of scientist Benedetto Puccinelli with many watercolour figures. These figures, found with the manuscript and preserved in excellent state, haven't ever been published because of the premature death of Puccinelli. Today, after studies and research on the represented mushrooms and on the pictorial technique used, dates have been set for this old collaboration to be printed.
After a brief introduction about the history of scientific illustration and the tight collaboration between the scientist and the artist with the unique purpose of a precise visual reproduction of the natural world, the work describes the figures, the technique, the paper, the way of drawing and painting of Giuseppe Bertini.
